I'm Jose Murphy, an Aerospace Engineering student on the Astronautics track at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, graduating in May 2028. My work centers on structural analysis and mechanical design, taking a rocket or spacecraft component from a load case on paper to hardware that survives real flight conditions.
As Structural Analysis Lead on Zephyr, a Mach 1.2 supersonic sounding rocket, I built MATLAB tools to model shear and stress distributions along a composite airframe, then validated those models against FEA results before handing them to the team building the vehicle. I've carried that same analysis-to-hardware approach into FEA research on a lunar-deployed camera system at ERAU's Space Technologies Laboratory, and into leading mechanical teams as VP of the Embry-Riddle Orbital Research Association, where I've helped take ground station and payload hardware from concept through build and flight test.
I'm bilingual in English and Spanish, with roots in Mexico, and I'm working toward a career in mechanical design engineering within launch operations or structures .
